To help limit the spread of COVID-19, the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) has closed its offices to the public - Please visit the LACOE website for guidance and resources. Until LACOE reopens to the public, all Beginning Teacher Program meetings and coursework will take place online via zoom. At this time, tuition can only be accepted via credit/debit card payment. Please see your Canvas course or contact your program coordinator for more information. Thank you for your continued support.

District Intern Program
Overview

"The LACOE District Intern Program is a great place to obtain your preliminary credential. It was affordable and I learned a lot. It was a great place to take classes and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a credential program."

Autism Authorization embedded in Education Specialist District Intern Credentials

The LACOE District Intern Program is designed for people who want to start their teaching career in an intern setting. Candidates must be "Teacher of Record" to participate in this program. This allows the new teacher to develop their teaching skills while working concurrently in the classroom. This firsthand experience will help candidates learn by doing and reflecting. Working alongside an experienced mentor, the candidate is able to collaboratively work on cognitive coaching in order to grow and become more independent as a teacher.  As a job-embedded program in conjunction with coursework application, the program will lead the candidates to a preliminary credential.
